Oncology Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a valid compact-state license
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, including oncology nursing experience
• Previous experience administering chemotherapy is required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience using EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)
• ONS chemotherapy and biotherapy certification preferred
• Must meet applicable travel assignment eligibility requirements, including the specified residency radius

Oncology Nursing Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments safely and according to established protocols
• Assess oncology patients before, during, and after treatment and monitor for adverse reactions
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up care
• Document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate comprehensive oncology care
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate clinical interventions
• Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and chemotherapy handling standards
