Operating Room Technician Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel healthcare assignment
• Start Date: November 23, 2026
• End Date: February 22, 2027
• Location: Virginia Beach, Virginia
• Healthcare Setting: On-site operating room; general surgery
• Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week; five shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts; rotating schedule
• Call Requirements: Required and may be included in weekend or holiday rotations; 30-minute response time when called
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,260–$2,430

Surgical Assistant Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent operating room, surgical services, or perioperative experience
• Current Surgical Assistant license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Certified Surgical Assistant credential
• Ability to work rotating shifts and participate in scheduled call, weekend, and holiday coverage
• Strong knowledge of operating room safety, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and general surgery procedures

Operating Room Technician Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first-assist support during general surgery procedures
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and help ensure compliance with operating room safety standards
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout surgical procedures
• Assist with positioning, prepping, draping, retraction, hemostasis, and wound closure as permitted by scope of practice
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia professionals, and other members of the perioperative team
• Participate in rotating call, weekend, and holiday coverage
