Emergency Medicine Physician Requirements

• Valid MD or DO degree and eligibility to practice emergency medicine
• At least 1 year of emergency medicine physician experience
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
• ABEM board certification required within five years after residency
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, unless superseded by applicable physician board certification requirements
• Ability to manage moderate-to-high-acuity adult emergency department patients
• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with physicians and advanced practice providers
• Willingness to complete required orientation, Meditech training, and at least one shadow shift; two shadow shifts are preferred

Emergency Medicine Physician Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat adult patients presenting with a broad range of emergency conditions
• Provide timely care in a moderate-to-high-acuity emergency department with an average volume of approximately 1.5–2.3 patients per physician per hour
• Utilize available CT, ultrasound, MRI, and bedside ultrasound resources to support clinical decision-making
• Coordinate care with specialty services including cardiology, general surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and anesthesiology
• Recognize patients requiring higher-level trauma care and facilitate appropriate transfer when indicated
• Collaborate effectively with advanced practice providers and the broader emergency care team
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using the electronic medical record
