Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Active Illinois RN license required at time of submission
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Strong background in neuro-focused care, including CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response teams
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, PICC management, and blood product administration
• Comfortable managing respiratory support such as CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, and tracheostomy care
• Knowledge of wound care, wound vacs, isolation precautions, and surgical drains
• Teaching hospital and Level II trauma experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality bedside care to neuro medical-surgical patients
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes quickly, and respond appropriately to clinical needs
• Administer medications and therapies safely, including heparin, insulin, and PCA management
• Support patients with complex neurological, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and post-surgical needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote safe, efficient patient care
• Document accurately in Cerner and maintain strong communication with the care team
• Assist with patient education, discharge planning, and ongoing care coordination
• Float within scope as needed to support unit and facility staffing needs
