Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New York
• At least 1 year of recent critical care nursing experience; CVICU or CTICU experience strongly preferred
• BSN required
• Demonstrated ability to care for fresh open-heart surgery patients on postoperative day zero
• Recent Epic electronic health record experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Current influenza vaccination required
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, and emergency response skills

CVICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Receive and manage fresh open-heart surgery cases immediately following surgery
• Monitor hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythms, respiratory function, and postoperative recovery
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate timely interventions
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established protocols
• Collaborate with providers and the multidisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized treatment plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
• Support patient and family education throughout the critical care experience
