NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent full-time-equivalent Registered Nurse experience within the past 3 years
• Recent experience providing neonatal nursing care in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license in the state where care is provided
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation certification or equivalent neonatal resuscitation training
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Maternal Child Health nursing experience or preparation preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred

NICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level III NICU
• Assess patient conditions, monitor clinical status, and promptly identify changes in newborn health
• Administer medications and treatments, support procedures, and document neonatal nursing care accurately
• Collaborate with neonatologists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Support families through education, communication, and compassionate care planning
• Follow neonatal, infection prevention, patient safety, and emergency response protocols
