About the Role
As a Legal & Compliance AI Specialist, you will directly improve the accuracy, safety, and jurisdictional rigor of AI in legal research, contract analysis, and regulatory compliance. Your professional judgment will teach AI to reason about statutes, case law, and the practical workflows of legal practice.
Your contributions will include:
Reviewing AI-Generated Legal Summaries: Evaluating AI's interpretation of statutes, case opinions, contracts, filings, and regulatory guidance.
Labeling Legal Documents & Clauses: Annotating contracts, pleadings, and regulatory texts for clause type, risk level, obligations, and governing jurisdiction.
Evaluating AI-Powered Legal Research & Drafting: Assessing memos, briefs, and contract drafts generated by AI models, and providing expert, citation-grounded feedback.
Building Legal Knowledge Graphs: Defining and validating relationships between statutes, cases, regulators, entities, and doctrinal concepts across jurisdictions.
Who We're Looking For
A JD, LLB, LLM, or equivalent law degree. Admission to a bar or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
Practical experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, regulatory body, or legal tech / compliance function.
Strong command of at least one legal system (common law or civil law); familiarity with cross-border practice is a plus.
Specialized experience in an area such as corporate / M&A, contracts, IP, data privacy (GDPR / CCPA / PIPL), financial regulation, or litigation.
Exceptional writing, analytical reasoning, and citation discipline, with a keen eye for detail.
Compensation
Compensation for our legal and compliance experts typically ranges from $60 to $140 USD per hour, reflecting the jurisdictional expertise and professional judgment these tasks require. Rates at the higher end of this range are reserved for projects requiring highly specialized knowledge (e.g., cross-border M&A, complex regulatory litigation, niche IP matters) or extensive partner-level experience.
