Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience preferred/required for this role
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Current NIHSS certification required
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Strong medical-surgical nursing skills and comfort caring for neurological and post-surgical patients
• Ability to manage a 1:6 patient ratio in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Must be willing to work night shift travel nursing assignments

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for Medical Surgical patients with neurological and stroke-related diagnoses
• Monitor patients using telemetry and pulse oximetry to recognize changes in condition early
• Perform thorough neurological assessments and support stroke recovery care
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and ordered treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient-centered acute care
• Support patients with seizure disorders, TBI, TIA, hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, and select medical/surgical needs
• Document care in Epic and maintain clear, timely communication with the healthcare team
• Promote secondary stroke prevention, patient education, and optimal functional outcomes
