• Setting: Main Operating Room
• Location: Mechanicsville, Virginia
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Call: Overnight call two shifts per week and weekend call averaging two shifts
• Duration: 16 weeks
• Start Date: 09/14/2026
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,950 - $2,100
• Patient Population: All ages
• Specialties: Robotics, spine, orthopedics, laparoscopic, general surgery, GYN, urology, and vascular

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of surgical assistant or operating room experience required
• Current CSA or CSFA certification required prior to submission
• Active BLS certification required
• Active Virginia licensure through the appropriate medical board
• Strong first assist experience in the operating room
• Fully functional robotics knowledge, including docking and supporting procedures from start to finish
• Solid understanding of aseptic technique, sterile fields, and surgical counts
• Travel OR experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work confidently with patients of all ages

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operative and invasive procedures
• Prepare the operating room with the supplies, instruments, and equipment needed for each case
• Maintain sterile technique and help protect the integrity of the surgical field
• Perform surgical counts and assist with specimen handling and labeling
• Support surgical skin prep, clipping, catheter insertion, and other assigned clinical tasks
• Assist as First Assist during procedures, including wound closure and cutting sutures when appropriate
• Work with robotics and specialized surgical equipment across a variety of procedures
• Contribute to patient safety initiatives, competency development, and team support in the OR
• Help with pre- and post-procedure cleaning, supply management, and inventory needs
