This on-site travel surgical tech contract offers experienced OR professionals the opportunity to work in a Level I academic medical center with 33 operating rooms and multiple dedicated cardiac suites.

Travel Surgical Technologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,690–$1,820
• Location: Cleveland, Ohio 44106 — an engaging urban area with opportunities to enjoy local culture, dining, education, and recreation
• Position Type: Travel contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• End Date: February 14, 2027
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 10-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week
• Call: Required
• Healthcare Setting: Level I academic medical center with 33 operating rooms and 4–5 cardiac rooms in daily operation

Cardiac Surgery OR Tech Requirements

• At least 1 year of operating room experience; cardiac surgery or CVOR experience strongly preferred
• Certified Surgical Technologist or Certified Surgical Technician credential
• Demonstrated ability to scrub complex cardiac, cardiothoracic, and open-heart procedures
• Experience supporting valve replacement procedures required
• Experience with heart and lung transplant cases preferred
• Ability to participate in required call coverage
• Strong knowledge of surgical aseptic technique, instrumentation, supplies, and sterile field maintenance
• Successful completion of required competency assessments, occupational health requirements, and facility onboarding

Cardiac Surgery Scrub Technician Responsibilities

• Serve as the cardiac surgery scrub technician for open-heart and other complex cardiothoracic procedures
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies before and during procedures
• Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and provide instruments and supplies efficiently throughout each case
• Support valve replacement procedures and heart and lung transplant surgeries
• Verify surgical counts and follow established operating room safety and infection-prevention protocols
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, registered nurses, perfusionists, and the broader perioperative team
• Assist with operating room turnover, equipment readiness, and post-procedure responsibilities
• Provide required call coverage and respond promptly to urgent cardiac surgery needs
