Oncology Registered Nurse (Infusion) – Travel Nursing Job in Carbondale, Illinois

Join an outpatient cancer treatment and infusion center in Carbondale, Illinois, as an Oncology Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel nursing contract. • Assignment End Date: February 8, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts; schedules may be 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., or 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week; scheduled up to 40 hours per week
• Weekend and Call Requirements: None

Oncology Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Illinois
• At least 1 year of professional Registered Nurse experience
• Oncology nursing, infusion nursing, or outpatient cancer care experience strongly preferred
• Current ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification or card required for assignment to the chemotherapy infusion room
• Ability to safely administer intravenous medications, antineoplastic agents, blood products, and supportive therapies
• Strong patient assessment, medication administration, infusion monitoring, and oncology patient education skills
• Central line, implanted port, laboratory draw, and infusion pump experience preferred

Oncology Infusion Nurse Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, and supportive intravenous therapies according to established protocols
• Assess patients before, during, and after treatment and monitor for adverse reactions or complications
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, expected effects, and when to seek assistance
• Access subcutaneous implanted ports and obtain laboratory specimens using appropriate technique
• Disconnect home infusion pumps and complete central line dressing changes
• Support oncology laboratory operations when assigned based on credentials and demonstrated competency
• Document assessments, treatments, patient responses, and clinical interventions accurately
• Collaborate with providers and the multidisciplinary cancer care team to promote safe, compassionate patient care
