About the Opportunity

Broadstaff is recruiting on behalf of a leading telecommunications provider seeking a Field Technician professional to support enterprise fiber and network infrastructure across Illinois and Iowa.

This is not a residential installation role. Technicians support commercial customers, data centers, network facilities, and fiber infrastructure while maintaining critical communications networks.

What You'll Do

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment
• Support fiber-optic network infrastructure and enterprise customer environments
• Perform testing using OTDRs, optical power meters, and other diagnostic tools
• Respond to service outages and network emergencies
• Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, including occasional overnight work
• Complete service documentation and field reports
• Coordinate with network operations, engineering, and customers
• Manage inventory and equipment as needed

Schedule

• Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Occasional overtime
• Participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule
• Overnight maintenance windows as required

Compensation & Benefits

• $26-$32/hour based on experience

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Telecommunications, ISP, fiber-optic, or network operations experience
• Enterprise or commercial technician experience
• Fiber troubleshooting and maintenance
• Network equipment installation and support
• Experience working independently in the field

Technical Skills

Experience with some or all of the following:

• OTDR testing
• Optical power meters
• Optical light sources
• Fiber troubleshooting
• DC power systems (-48VDC, +24VDC)
• Multimeters and basic electrical testing

Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
