Physical Therapist Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Physical Therapist experience
• Current, valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Virginia
• Current BLS certification required before the first shift
• Ability to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered physical therapy care in a hospital environment
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning, organization, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Commitment to professional ethics, patient confidentiality, workplace safety, and applicable physical therapy practice standards

Physical Therapy Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive patient evaluations and use clinical reasoning to develop individualized physical therapy treatment plans and measurable goals.
• Implement, modify, and progress treatment plans based on patient needs, physician direction, and clinical response.
• Provide individual, concurrent, and group therapy sessions as appropriate for patient care needs.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to address barriers to discharge and support safe transitions of care.
• Coordinate equipment trials, recommendations, patient and family education, home exercise programs, and follow-up services.
• Document evaluations, daily treatment, goals, functional outcomes, medical necessity, discharge information, and charges accurately and promptly.
• Ensure treatment is delivered under valid physician orders and in accordance with applicable regulatory and facility requirements.
• Educate patients, families, students, and coworkers regarding physical therapy services, safety, and strategies that support functional independence.
• Maintain a safe treatment environment and follow established standards for infection prevention, patient handling, and fall prevention.
• Participate in continuing education, quality improvement activities, student development, and professional growth initiatives as assigned.
