Sterile Processing Technician Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,120–$1,200
• Location: On-site in Wausau, Wisconsin
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shifts per Week: 3 scheduled shifts
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts
• Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays as needed, with an every-other-holiday rotation
• Orientation: 8 hours; scheduled hours may vary during orientation
• Additional Scheduling: May be asked to float to nearby affiliated locations based on operational needs

Sterile Processing Technician Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of sterile processing experience required
• At least one completed travel assignment required
• High school diploma required
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred
• Completion of a sterile processing program or relevant work experience preferred
• Ability to work overnight weekend shifts and participate in holiday coverage
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection prevention, sterilization standards, and patient safety

Sterile Processing Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments, equipment, and patient-care supplies
• Follow established Sterile Processing Department policies, procedures, and infection-control standards throughout the sterilization process
• Prepare instrument trays and surgical supplies for operating room and other clinical procedures
• Work in sterile core areas of the operating rooms as assigned
• Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness before use
• Maintain accurate documentation and support efficient workflow within the Sterile Processing Department
• Collaborate with operating room and clinical teams to ensure needed instruments and supplies are available on time
• Support department coverage needs, including floating to nearby affiliated locations when required
