Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200–$2,320
• Location: Chamberlain, South Dakota
• Healthcare Setting: Acute care; Emergency Room and Med-Surg
• Start Date: November 23, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks, through February 22, 2027
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; approximately three 12-hour shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts
• Weekend and Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and holiday
• Call Requirement: Three call shifts during the 13-week assignment
• Floating: Between the Emergency Room and Med-Surg unit
• Unit Information: Approximately 25 rooms; typical Med-Surg nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4, depending on census and acuity
• Charting: EPIC electronic medical record
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs without logos

Emergency Room / Med-Surg RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in South Dakota
• At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
• At least 6 months of recent Med-Surg nursing experience within the past year
• At least 6 months of recent Emergency Room nursing experience within the past year
• Ability to function independently in the Emergency Room and care for up to five Med-Surg patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; onsite completion may be available with approval
• TNCC and PALS certification preferred
• Availability to complete EPIC training, one day of ER orientation, and one day of Med-Surg orientation

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room and Med-Surg unit
• Perform patient assessments, triage, care planning, medication administration, monitoring, and reassessment
• Respond to urgent and emergent patient needs while prioritizing care in a fast-paced acute-care environment
• Manage a Med-Surg assignment of up to five patients based on census and acuity
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate treatment and discharge planning
• Accurately document care and clinical outcomes in EPIC
• Float between the Emergency Room and Med-Surg unit according to operational needs
• Participate in required weekend, holiday, and call coverage
• Complete all required orientation, training, and competency activities
