Sterile Processing Technician Job Details

• Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania
• Setting: Hospital sterile processing department (SPD)
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Duration: 13-week healthcare contract
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,130–$1,210
• Work Arrangement: On-site

Sterile Processing Technician Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or in a hospital sterile processing department
• Current sterile processing certification required
• Demonstrated expertise with orthopedic and neurological surgical instrumentation
• Strong knowledge of decontamination, inspection, assembly, preparation, packaging, sterilization, and distribution workflows
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume hospital environment while maintaining strict infection prevention, quality, and safety standards
• Travel sterile processing experience is highly preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and teamwork skills

Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, preparation, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment
• Process complex orthopedic and neurological instrument trays with accuracy and efficiency
• Complete approximately 20–25 surgical instrument trays per shift, depending on tray complexity
• Maintain an expected productivity level of approximately 3–4 trays per hour, based on complexity
• Support the sterile processing department during peak volume periods, including decontamination activity during the afternoon and preparation and packaging activity throughout the evening
• Verify tray contents, instrument integrity, sterilization indicators, labeling, and documentation before distribution
• Follow infection prevention, regulatory, and department procedures at every stage of the sterile processing workflow
• Maintain accurate productivity and workflow records using the department's tracking system
