Emergency Department RN Job Details

• Specialty: Emergency Department Nursing / Emergency Room Nursing
• Location: Plainsboro Township, New Jersey
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,100
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 10, 2026
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend; one winter holiday and one summer holiday required
• Time Off: Limited requested time off during orientation

Emergency Room Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey or a valid Compact RN license at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of emergency department or emergency room nursing experience
• Experience caring for patients across all age groups, including pediatric patients
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Current influenza vaccination
• Ability to work the required night, weekend, and holiday schedule

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and provide professional nursing care to emergency department patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions
• Deliver safe, timely, and evidence-based care to adult and pediatric patients
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments while following established clinical protocols
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support efficient patient flow and positive patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
• Maintain readiness to respond to urgent and emergent patient needs throughout each night shift
