General Surgeon Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of clinical experience in General Surgery
• Active North Carolina physician license
• Board certification in General Surgery
• Clean professional history
• Current ABLS, ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• Proficiency with adult General Surgery and laparoscopic procedures
• Experience with appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, breast surgery, minor orthopedic procedures, vascular surgery, vascular access devices, and chest tube insertion
• Ability to provide drive-in coverage is preferred
• GI capabilities, including upper or lower endoscopy, are highly preferred
• Pediatric surgery, trauma, head and neck surgery, central line insertion, and plastic or hand surgery experience are preferred

Locum Tenens General Surgery Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive General Surgery coverage during scheduled 24-hour shifts
• Evaluate and manage adult surgical patients in accordance with established clinical standards
• Perform required laparoscopic procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernioplasty
• Perform breast, vascular, minor orthopedic, and other indicated surgical procedures
• Perform chest tube insertion and vascular access device procedures as clinically indicated
• Respond to urgent and emergent surgical needs during assigned coverage
• Complete timely clinical documentation and provide required notes for overtime or callback activity
