Job description
Join a dedicated team on a 12-week travel contract at a hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska, working 12-hour night shifts. As a registered nurse specializing in acute rehabilitation, you'll support patients recovering from stroke, trauma, cardiac events, spinal cord injury, and other neuro or orthopedic conditions. This role offers a unique opportunity to experience a specialized rehab environment with a patient load that typically sees a length of stay between 7 and 10 days, sometimes up to 30. Your expertise will shine as you manage IVs, straight caths, Foley catheters, and assist with isolation patients—you're expected to insert your own IVs, emphasizing your skill and independence. The unit's nursing team operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4, with two nurses on shift when patient numbers are five or more, ensuring quality care without being overly crowded. Expect to attend interdisciplinary team meetings weekly. The environment is less focused on medical complexity, allowing you to focus on rehabilitation progress and patient recovery without the need to titrate drips or read strips, as telemetry is monitored centrally. Comfortable with first-time travel assignments? This role welcomes and supports new travelers with a streamlined orientation and a collaborative team structure. Outside the hospital, the city enjoys generally pleasant weather, making it easier to explore and enjoy your time off.
