Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; operating room or perioperative nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Ability to work scheduled daytime shifts and participate in the required operating room call rotation
• Strong clinical judgment, organization, communication, and teamwork skills

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative experience
• Prepare the operating room, supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for scheduled surgical procedures
• Function effectively in the circulating and/or scrub role according to clinical competency
• Complete patient assessments, surgical safety checks, counts, documentation, and handoffs
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and the broader perioperative care team
• Monitor patients and respond promptly to changes in condition during the perioperative period
• Participate in evening, weekend, and holiday call coverage as scheduled
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient acute care operating room environment
