Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,970
• Location: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
• Employment Type: Travel respiratory therapy contract
• Start Date: December 7, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Shifts per Week: 3
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Documentation: Epic preferred
• Orientation: 40 hours

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Recent adult critical care and emergency department respiratory therapy experience
• Active Pennsylvania Respiratory Care Practitioner license
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Strong experience caring for patients requiring advanced oxygen therapy, noninvasive ventilation, airway management, and mechanical ventilation
• Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced hospital environment and float between adult critical care and emergency department assignments

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients in critical care and emergency department settings
• Manage oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomy collars, and mechanical ventilation
• Assist with intubation, extubation, airway placement, airway suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Draw and interpret arterial blood gases and support appropriate respiratory treatment plans
• Monitor ventilator performance, troubleshoot high-pressure alarms, and assist with weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Administer nebulizer and aerosol treatments, including handheld, T-piece, tracheostomy collar, and extubation-related therapies
• Perform chest physiotherapy and airway clearance treatments using devices such as The Vest, IPV, and CoughAssist
• Collect sputum specimens and provide pulmonary hygiene interventions
• Collaborate with respiratory services, rapid response teams, nurses, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record
