Respiratory Therapist Schedule and Hospital Setting

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, approximately 36 hours per week
• Shift Length: Primarily 12-hour shifts, with 8-hour shifts possible based on department needs
• Shift Options: Day/night rotation, including 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend may be required
• Call: Not required
• Holidays: No holiday requirement indicated

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; CRT candidates will not be considered
• At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required; 3 years preferred
• Active professional respiratory therapist license required for practice in Pennsylvania
• ACLS certification required
• PALS and/or NRP certification strongly preferred
• Hamilton ventilator experience preferred
• EPIC experience preferred
• Ability to work day and night rotations and adapt to 8- or 12-hour scheduling needs

Respiratory Therapy Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based respiratory care to hospitalized patients
• Assess respiratory status and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions
• Manage respiratory equipment and support patients requiring ventilatory assistance
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record
• Respond effectively to changing patient conditions and respiratory emergencies
• Follow hospital policies, clinical standards, and infection-prevention practices
