Join a fast-paced emergency department team as a Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) in South Charleston, West Virginia. This acute-care travel nursing assignment supports a P4 trauma center that receives STEMI and stroke patients and serves a diverse population, including infants, pediatric patients, adults, and older adults. You’ll care for approximately 70–75 patients per day in a 28-bed emergency department with dedicated trauma and code rooms. The team includes experienced emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, emergency technicians, and 24/7 house supervision.

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Room nursing experience; prior travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current ACLS certification
• Current PALS certification
• TNCC certification preferred but not required
• Strong critical-care skills, including management of cardiac dysrhythmias, critical drips, BiPAP, CPAP, and mechanical ventilation
• Experience obtaining radial arterial blood gas samples
• Ability to care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Comfort working rotating weekends and holidays in a high-acuity emergency setting

Travel ER RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care for emergency department patients with medical, surgical, trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and behavioral health conditions.
• Care for patients experiencing sepsis, overdose, COPD exacerbations, trauma, stroke symptoms, STEMI, and other emergent conditions.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, ongoing reassessments, triage support, medication administration, and clinical interventions.
• Manage patients requiring critical-care therapies, including vasoactive and other high-risk infusions, sedation, paralytics, thrombolytic therapy, noninvasive ventilation, and mechanical ventilation.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, cardiac dysrhythmias, respiratory compromise, and other emergencies.
• Collaborate with emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, emergency technicians, phlebotomy, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Safely transport patients to diagnostic services when needed and maintain accurate documentation in Epic.
• Support care for emergency department holds, psychiatric or seclusion patients, trauma patients, and patients requiring rapid stabilization.
• Follow department protocols, emergency preparedness standards, infection prevention practices, and applicable nursing regulations.
